Staff nurses provide direct patient care and are accountable to the ward supervisor for their roles in ward management and patient assistance. They are essential frontline caregivers ensuring quality treatment, patient safety, and emotional support.
They report to the Nursing Superintendent and oversee nursing care, safety, and comfort within a ward or unit. They assign duties, monitor performance, maintain discipline, and also educate student nurses in teaching hospitals.
Deputy Nursing Superintendents assist the Nursing Superintendent in managing hospital-wide nursing operations, personnel coordination, resource allocation, and ensuring adherence to clinical standards.
Accountable to the Medical Superintendent, the Nursing Superintendent is responsible for the overall safety and efficient management of nursing services within the hospital, including policy implementation, staff evaluation, and training oversight.
The Director of Nursing oversees both nursing services and academic education programs (if offered by the hospital). They are responsible for strategic leadership, ensuring clinical excellence, compliance with regulatory standards, and continuous professional development.
